Elvis Presley’s granddaughter Riley Keough becomes trained death doula after her brother Benjamin’s death

Lisa Marie Presley’s son, Danny Keough, died on July 12th at the age of 27. An autopsy determined his cause of

death to be “an intraoral shotgun wound,” according to the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner’s Office. “Suicide” was cited as his cause of death.

In a statement, Presley’s representative, Roger Widynowski, said the 53-year-old was “devastated.”

“She is utterly heartbroken, inconsolable, and beyond devastated,” Widynowski said in a statement,

“but she is trying to stay strong for her 11-year-old twins and her oldest daughter Riley.” “That boy was her absolute

favorite. He was her one true love.”

On Sunday, Keough took to Instagram to share a personal update.

“Today I completed my Death Doula training, on @sacred crossings’ The Art of Death Midwifery training course, so I

suppose I’m an almost certified death doula now hehe,” the actress wrote. “And I just felt compelled to write a

heartfelt thank you to this community of people who are teaching and educating people in conscious dying and death work.”

“We’re taught not to talk about it because it’s a morbid subject,” the 31-year-old continued. “Or we’re scared of it so

much that we can’t talk about it… and then it happens to us, and we’re completely unprepared. I believe it is critical

to educate ourselves on conscious dying and death in the same way that we educate ourselves on conscious birth.”
